As a Wilmington, NC Photographer, I always love getting to know my clients and figured I'd tell y'all a little bit of random facts about me! :)
I can type fast!! Maybe my next job should be a professional typist lol. I'm such a nerd, so typing fast makes me super happy. Anyone in Wilmington, NC hiring? lol
2. I suck at reading texts messages.
My phone has at least 80 unread texts at all times. Usually closer to 120. I seriously mean no harm
and have such good intentions! I appreciate all my friends who understand and accept me - I think the
not answering is a social anxiety/avoidance kinda thing.
Opening my business has really helped with this! To be successful, I have to coordinate and
communicate with clients. It's actually something I pride myself on - being open and available, and
helpful with my BBP families. Slowly but surely that communication bug is seeping into my personal
life. Maybe not as fast as I prefer, lol, but I'll get there :)
3. I'm not married. I've been with my fiance - who you may hear me call my husband - for gosh, 15 years now? We were friends at 15 and made it official when we were 17. So yeah, that's 14 years now. We'll get married and make it official one of these day. Maybe somewhere here in Wilmington, NC? Or maybe up in Boone where we went to college. Here we are back in 2007!
4. I'm an introvert. I recharge alone. My home is my bubble. Getting out and meeting new people legit freaks me out. You can ask my husband - before any event or photography session or even a playdate with the kids' friends, I get SO nervous. But then once I'm there, I have a fantastic time and my extroverted side pops out. Here's a picture of my kiddos in our home, who also seem to take after me with their introverted personalities.
5. Photography stumbled into my life 4 years ago. My husband majored in photography back in college! I was interested then, but my love for it really didn't develop until a few years ago when the kids were born. I tried to start a business, but vastly underestimated what was involved. A few years later though, I had worked hard, practiced, mentored under some amazing photographers, and took the leap. I started my business a little over 2 years ago, and have LOVED every second of being a Wilmington, NC Photographer.
Here's a picture from one of my very first Photoshoots!
6. I love milk. Especially when I'm pregnant. 99.9% we drank like 6 gallons a week when I was pregnant! haha. It's slowed down some now - the milk urges, that is. I'm trying to drink more water :)
7. The mountains have my heart. I've spent all of my life on the beach except for two years of college in Boone at Appalachian State. At first I did NOT want to go - it's so cold there. But over those two years, the mountains just stole my heart. The crisp air, beautiful views, mountain streams. UGH. We go back every year to go camping, and if I could I'd move back in two second. Maybe one day when the kids are grown and out of the house, that'll happen.
Here's our favorite hike, Julian Price Park!
8. I was a foreign exchange student in high school.
When I was in 10th grade, I was a foreign exchange student! I went to live with a family in a small town
in England called Ramsbottom, and we traveled to Wales. It was such an amazing experience, but I
have to tell y'all, I don't think I truly appreciated the experience has much as I would have today, as an
adult. If I went back I'd soak up more of the scenery and be less interested in shopping lol
9. I had a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean).
And it was one of the best moments of my life! I cannot even begin to express how frickin' amazing it was. My first was an emergency c-section, and my second was an uphill battle for that VBAC. It was a high risk pregnancy with gestational diabetes, so for safety reasons they didn't want me to go past 40 weeks. So it ended up being an induced VBAC. Advocating for women during their birth stories is a huge passion of mine. And I'd be absolutely honored if someone let me into their birthing space to capture it. One day, maybe :) Here's big sister meeting her little brother for the first time.
10. I went viral once There's this one time, a picture I posted went viral. And bless my husbands heart, he got recognized everywhere for a while there lol
That's all! If you guys ever need a photographer, I'd LOVE to chat and get to know you and your family more. Take care :)
